Funding and transparency

How CRPD’s non partisan citizen observation of the 5 December 2026 presidential election is paid for, what the money buys, and the rule we never bend. The figures below come straight from CRPD’s own records and update by themselves.

Reading the live totals…

1How the observation is funded

Up to 2,000 trained volunteers will watch the presidential election at polling stations across The Gambia on 5 December 2026. The observation rests on four kinds of support.

Volunteers give their time

Observing with CRPD is voluntary and unpaid. Volunteers who can also cover their own transport, phone credit and food, and CRPD counts them among its supporters.

Gambians at home and abroad

People, families and businesses pledge money, water, fuel, transport, food, or a whole training day on the support page.

Institutional partners

Organisations that support the observation. They are named on this page only with their permission. See the list.

Every gift accounted for

Each gift gets a numbered receipt, and CRPD will account for every gift in its final report on the observation.

What the totals above mean

ReceivedMoney that has actually reached CRPD, confirmed by CRPD Finance. Nothing is counted on a promise alone.
PledgedMoney people have promised and not withdrawn, including money that has arrived. Pledges CRPD declined are left out.
SupportersPledges of any kind that were not declined, plus volunteer observers who pay their own way.
In kindWater, fuel, T-shirts, caps, meals, vehicles and training days that people have pledged.
Where this comes from: CRPD’s Fundraising campaign records in the Election Center, published to this page after every change. The money figures appear once the first gift is confirmed.

2What the money pays for

Volunteers give their time for free. What it costs to put one of them at a polling station is the rest: getting to training and to the polling station, phone credit or data to send reports, and food and water on the day.
For one observer, for one dayCost

Training days

One day for each constituency, between 25 and 30 November: the venue, water and lunch for the volunteers.

Transport for coordinators

A vehicle, a driver or fuel for CRPD’s coordinators.

Reporting from the station

Observers send their reports from their phones, so phone credit and data matter on the day.

Observer gear and printing

T-shirts, caps and printing. Sponsors’ names never appear on observer gear.

CRPD cannot promise support to every volunteer. Whatever it can give goes first to those who need it to take part.
Where this comes from: the cost questions on CRPD’s volunteer form, the ways to give on the support page, and unit costs entered by CRPD in the Election Center.

3Our rule: no money from politics

CRPD accepts no support, in money or in kind, from political parties, candidates or their agents.
  • No supporter has any say over what our observers report or what CRPD concludes.
  • Everyone who pledges on the support page confirms that they are not a political party, a candidate, or an agent of a party or candidate, that they are not giving on behalf of one, and that they expect nothing in return.
  • Money that reaches CRPD directly is recorded only after the team confirms the same about the sender.
  • You may give privately. Sponsors’ names never appear on observer gear.
  • CRPD does not announce results. Only the Independent Electoral Commission declares them (IEC Code of Conduct for Observers, clause 14).

4Institutional partners

Organisations that support CRPD’s citizen observation of the 2026 election. Each is listed here only with its permission, and an amount is shown only where the partner agreed.

5How institutional partners can support

Embassies, foundations, businesses, unions and other organisations can support the observation in ways that fit their own rules.

Transport and fuelFor coordinators and observers to reach their polling stations.
Phone credit and dataSo observers can send their reports on polling day.
Food and waterFor observers on training days and on polling day.
1Write to CRPD through the contact form on the election page. Say who you are and what you would like to support.
2The CRPD team replies to agree the details, and the same rule applies to everyone: no money from parties, candidates or their agents, and no say over what CRPD reports.
3Once your support is received, you get a numbered receipt. You choose whether your name, and the amount, appear on this page.

6How we account for every gift

1Recorded. Every pledge and every gift that comes in directly is written into CRPD’s records in the Election Center.
2Confirmed. A gift counts as received only once CRPD Finance has confirmed it.
3Receipted. Each gift received gets its own receipt number, sent to the giver on WhatsApp or by email.
4Published. The totals on this page update after every change. Named supporters who did not ask for privacy are thanked on the support page.
5Reported. CRPD will account for every gift in its final report on the observation.
What CRPD keeps about givers, and who can see it: your privacy.
